Traditional Upholstery / Furniture (Beg)
Course Duration: 9 weeks Course Fee: £69
Students will start with the basic techniques associated with traditional upholstery, chair frames, and woodwork. Including how to remove old stuffings, and coverings, repair woodwork as necessary and clean and polish any show wood.
Also building up with new materials using traditional techniques; a single chair with a drop in seat would be an ideal starting project.
Furniture restoration can be old or modern furniture. This can include, repairing, cleaning, repairing fixings, and catches and finishing with stains, french polish, wax, or oil. Your project can be discussed at the first class including what materials and tools are needed.
This can be a very relaxing and satisfying hobby, and an opportunity to learn new skills and no previous experience is necessary.
Please bring with you each week the item of furniture you wish to work on.
